NIT Ranking 2012

We would try to rank engineering colleges in India for every alternate year based on InI resources. After a great effort to put people together, gather information and data, I would like to give NIT Rankings for the year 2012. As I mentioned in ranking criteria before, we considered closing ranks of AIEEE admission for every institute in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Electrical Engineering. We selected these branches because they are common in most of NITs. The reason for selection AIEEE and GATE ranking is that we believe great student quality bring everything great to the institute. Most of the Indian institutes for engineering know for their quality of students. Therefore it was the best and absolute criteria for us to rank NITs, or choose best NITs based on closing ranks and M.Tech admissions.

PSU Recruitment through GATE Exam Score

PSUs in India, for long, have had troubles conducting their recruitment processes with more than 100,000 students giving the exams for less than 1000 jobs (A selection rate of less than 1%). After sensing the exponential rise in the number of engineering students in India who wish to "land" a PSU job, the PSUs have decided that GATE score shall be the primary criteria for initial shortlisting. This change was the primary cause for the rapid increase in applicants for GATE 2012.

IOCL was the first PSU which successfully tested out this system and was followed, two years later by NTPC, IOCL & Powergrid.

Usually these companies release their recruitment notifications right after GATE notification, indicating that candidates have to take GATE to be considered for a job in their organizations.

Dealing with Bad GATE Score

This run in minds of a million students as anything after 7000 AIR makes life confusing and difficult. One can easily feel the doors are closed and there are no good jobs out there to start a good career, or sometimes we don’t find a bad one either. All these make life more difficult, confusing and depressing. In What after B.Tech? I explored few possibilities. On the sometime, I just kept myself in that situation and though what would I do or in fact did during this time.

These are the things I would do and strongly recommend anyone going through the tough time. These are just not for the students who lost the hope but for someone who really want to focus and look ahead. I still do these and at the end of the day I sleep in peach. I share five basic things to set ourselves right here.
